Three FTMC Scientists Win Lithuanian Academy of Sciences Prizes

We are pleased to announce that FTMC researchers have become laureates of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences (LAS) competitions!

In the Commemorative prizes competition, within the Chemistry Division, the Juozas Matulis Commemorative Prize has been granted to Prof. Dr Rimantas Ramanauskas for his scientific work “The role of metal structures in electrochemistry and the synthesis of new inorganic compounds.”

Professor Ramanauskas is a prominent Lithuanian chemist, long‑time head of the FTMC Department of Electrochemical Material Science, and currently a researcher in the same department. He is also a laureate of the Lithuanian Science Prize (2007).

Aiming to encourage the creative activity of early‑career researchers and doctoral students, the LAS also organises an annual Young scientists’ and doctoral students’ research competition.

In the Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry Division, both prizes were awarded to young FTMC researchers who have already proven their talent many times:

Dr Ramūnas Levinas, chemist at the FTMC Department of Catalysis, for his scientific work “Development of Multifunctional Transition‑Metal Oxide and Chalcogenide Composites for Water Splitting”

Kernius Vilkevičius, doctoral student at the FTMC Department of Laser Technologies, for his scientific work “Femtosecond Laser Gold Nanostructuring for the Fabrication of Plasmonic Structures and Their Practical Applications.”

We sincerely congratulate our colleagues and wish that these awards serve as inspiration for even greater achievements!
