FTMC Signed a Cooperation Document With the Prestigious Finnish Research Centre VTT
FTMC is taking another big step forward in international cooperation. On September 2, during the Lithuania-Finland Defence Industry and Science Forum in Helsinki, FTMC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Finnish state research centre VTT on developing a partnership in the field of quantum technologies.
The document was signed by FTMC Director Prof. Dr Ramūnas Skaudžius and VTT Executive Vice President of Digital Technologies Dr Erja Turunen.
VTT is one of the leading research institutes in Europe, with half of its revenue coming from foreign markets. This centre employs more than 2,300 specialists.
The idea for this cooperation was born during an initial visit, when a delegation from the Lithuanian quantum technology association Quantum Lithuania met with representatives of VTT in Finland.
"We look forward to turning this MoU into concrete steps soon. One of the first opportunities could be welcoming the VTT team to our Quantum Hackathon (Quantathon) organized by us and Quantum Lithuania this November – the invitation is open, and we’d be delighted to see them join.
Beyond quantum, we also see strong potential in other areas: collaboration between Chip Competence Centers, joint work in metrology, and possible European Defence Fund (EDF) projects.
As always, the signature itself is just the beginning – what matters most are the actions and results that follow," says FTMC Director Skaudžius.

"This collaboration opens up new avenues for research, development, and application, which will undoubtedly contribute to both countries' technological advancements," says VTT representative Dr Turunen.
On September 2, more than 300 participants from business, science, and various other institutions from both countries gathered in Helsinki for the Lithuania-Finland Defence Industry and Science Forum on cooperation in the field of high technology. The forum was opened by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda and Finnish Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen.
