FTMC Experts Deliver Workshop on Research Commercialisation at ISM University of Management and Economics
How can scientific knowledge be taken beyond the laboratory or university environment and transformed into practical solutions, real-world products, or technologies that benefit society and the state?
This field is known as research commercialisation, and it was the focus of a knowledge-sharing session delivered at ISM University of Management and Economics in Vilnius by Dr Karolis Stašys, Head of FTMC Defence Projects, and Dr Romuald Eimont, Head of the Department of Innovation.
"During the workshop, we shared our Center's experience in research commercialisation and discussed how these processes could be further strengthened at ISM. We explored best practices, discussed what works and what does not, and exchanged insights on how research outcomes can be translated more successfully into practical applications.
Strengthening partnerships is equally important to us. By supporting one another, we can contribute to a stronger Lithuanian economy, a more robust research ecosystem, and greater national competitiveness," says Dr Stašys.
According to the expert, he was particularly impressed by the expertise of ISM members, the quality of their research, and its potential to generate tangible benefits for society.
"I believe this session was valuable for both sides. Not only did we share our knowledge, but we also learned a great deal ourselves. As the saying goes, teaching others helps you gain a deeper understanding of your own subject. By becoming familiar with ISM's approach and experiences, we gained new ideas that will help us further refine FTMC's research commercialisation policies and guidelines," notes the Head of FTMC Defence Projects.
