FTMC Director Prof. Dr Ramūnas Skaudžius Elected to the EARTO Executive Board
FTMC Director Prof. Dr Ramūnas Skaudžius has been elected to the Executive Board of European Association of Research and Technology Organisations (EARTO). His nomination was approved at the General Assembly on 11 February.
EARTO is an influential international association that brings together research and technology organizations (RTOs) from across Europe. It plays an active role in shaping European research and innovation policy, provides recommendations on research programs, represents the interests of RTOs before the European Commission, and promotes cooperation among science, industry, and public-sector institutions.
The association unites around 350 RTOs in 32 European countries. Lithuania is represented by two institutions: FTMC (admitted to EARTO in 2019) and the Lithuanian Energy Institute (LEI, 2021).
In addition, Lithuania is home to RTO Lithuania, an organization that unites FTMC, LEI, and the Lithuanian Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry.
Before Prof. Skaudžius’ term of office, RTO was represented on the EARTO Board by Dr. Sigitas Rimkevičius, a researcher at LEI.
Prof. Skaudžius is the second FTMC representative to serve on the EARTO Executive Board. From 2020 to 2023, the position was held by the Center’s former Director, Prof. Gintaras Valušis.
