The 68th International Conference for Students of Physics and Natural Sciences “Open Readings 2025” presents its first invited speakers!

Invited conference speaker Rodolphe F. Jazzar is a professor in the Chemistry Department at the University of California, San Diego, and a CNRS Research Director.

His groundbreaking work focuses on the intricate processes underpinning fundamental chemical transformations. By combining experimental and computational methods, his team aims to provide a deeper understanding of these transformations, ultimately enabling the development of novel catalysts and materials with transformative applications in energy, synthesis, and nanotechnology. In 2023, Dr Jazzar was awarded the prestigious J.M. Lehn Award for excellence in organic chemistry, recognizing his transformative contributions to modern science.

Participants of the conference will as well have the opportunity to hear the invited speaker Zoltán Molnár - a Professor of Developmental Neuroscience at the University of Oxford. His research focuses on the early development of the mammalian cerebral cortex, particularly the role of transient subplate neurons in the specialization of cortical areas.

The professor is at the forefront of translating this knowledge into insights regarding the pathomechanisms of cognitive developmental conditions, such as autism and schizophrenia. Zoltán Molnár has received countless awards throughout his career, including the Einstein Visiting Fellowship at Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin (2020-2024) and elections to Academia Europaea and the European Neonatal Brain Club. These accolades reflect Prof. Molnár’s significant contributions to neuroscience and medical education.

“Open Readings” is the largest annual gathering of young scientific minds in the Baltic States. The four-day conference attracts over 400 participants worldwide - students, young researchers, renowned scientists, including Nobel Prize winners. The conference provides a free platform for students to express their potential as researchers allowing students and young scientists to present their research in the format of poster and oral presentations, receive constructive criticism from members of the scientific community and to broaden their horizons along with their circle of like-minded people.

The conference is an excellent opportunity for participants and the general public to listen to internationally renowned guest speakers on a variety of scientific topics.

The conference also holds a Pupils’ Session, where many of the brightest students in Lithuania partake every year.

Prospective “Open Readings 2025” participants are invited to register through this link.

The registration deadline is set for February 17th, 2025.

Participation and registration are free of charge.

Listener registration and the Pupils’ Session’s participant registration links will be published on the main ‘Open Readings’ page.

The conference will take place on 13-16 May 2025, on-site in the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology (FTMC) in Vilnius, Lithuania. In case of any questions arising, please do not hesitate to contact the organisers at info@openreadings.eu.

In the meantime, we greatly encourage you to actively follow the news on the main “Open Readings” page.
