The Lithuanian Academy of Sciences (Lietuvos Mokslų Akademija, LMA), in order to promote the creative activity of young scientists and doctoral students, organises the annual Young Scientist Sholarship competition of scientific works.

Among the winners is a representative of our Center: the 2024 Prize in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry has been awarded to Dr Simonas Ramanavičius, a researcher at the FTMC Department of Electrochemical Material Science. He received the award for his research work "Synthesis and practical applications of nanostructured titanium suboxides and their hybrid structures with Ti3C2Tx MXenes".

Congratulations to our colleague, and good luck in your future scientific journey!

The electrochemist develops MXenes - thin compounds that are invisible to the naked eye and resemble glued sheets of paper.

Due to their unique properties, MXenes are widely used in laboratories for applications such as electronics, energy storage, environmental protection or biomedicine. S. Ramanavičius' goal is to apply these materials to the determination of drinking water quality and the removal of contaminants.
