Seminar on electrochemical materials science "Li-ion battery recycling - state-of-the-art and beyond"

On 20 February at 14:00, a seminar on electrochemical materials science, "Li-ion battery recycling - state-of-the-art and beyond", will take place in the Room E302 (Saulėtekio al. 3, Vilnius).

The seminar will be led by Dr Jędrzej Piątek from the Lukasiewicz Research Network - Krakow Institute of Technology, Poland.

"Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) represent a significant achievement in today's energy storage industry. However, the demand for their use is increasing due to various applications, including mobile devices and the expanding market for electric vehicles. As a result, recycling end-of-life batteries has become essential to meet the need for manufacturing new batteries. Nonetheless, this process poses challenges due to the lack of sustainable and efficient methods on a large scale.

In this talk, I will present the current state of battery recycling worldwide and explore more sustainable alternatives to existing solutions," says the researcher.

Holding a PhD in inorganic chemistry, obtained in 2022 from Stockholm University, J. Piątek is an expert in electrochemistry and hydrometallurgy (supported with numerous publications and work experience). Recently he have started an independent path as a researcher, seeking for sustainable solutions in the energy storage field.
