On 5 February, representatives of foreign diplomatic missions and other foreign institutions from various European countries visited FTMC. The Center hosted guests from Italian, Spanish and French embassies and institutes, the Honorary Consul of Belgium, the Honorary Consul of Thailand, members of the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce and the Trade & Investment Councelor of the Embassy of Belgium.
During the meeting, FTMC Director Prof. Dr Ramūnas Skaudžius and his team showcased FTMC’s activities, scientific achievements, and the extensive opportunities for international cooperation in both academia and business.
The diplomats had the opportunity to see the FTMC laboratories and ongoing research projects up close. Dr Wanessa Melo, an expert from the Department of Functional Materials and Electronics, talked about the experiments with bacteria, yeast, algae and other objects; Dr Paulius Ragulis, a researcher from the Department of Physical Technologies, introduced the Microwave Laboratory and the research carried out in it.
Dr Artur Plotnikov, an engineer in the Department of Nuclear Research, explained how radioactive carbon is used to determine the age of archaeological finds while Dr Zigmas Balevičius, Head of the Laboratory of Plasmonics and Nanophotonics of the Department of Laser Technologies, presented the processes of creating nanophotonic and plasmonic structures and their applications in photonics, optoelectronics, chemical and biological sensors.
We strongly appreciate the constructive conversations and the new connections that have been established, which we believe will open the door to new partnerships and joint projects in the future.
Thank you to everyone who participated and see you next time!
