11-14 June, the European Workshop on Innovative and Advanced Epitaxy will be held at the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology, where young scientists and invited guests will present their research on this topic.
Epitaxy is the process of growing crystalline layers on top of each other at the atomic level, which are then experimented on to improve semiconductor, light-emitting diode (LED), laser, quantum and other technologies of societal interest.
The workshop will cover theoretical and practical issues in epitaxy and will include discussions.
The European Network for Innovative and Advanced Epitaxy (OPERA),
a scientific network that will be active for a total of 4 years, is made up of a community of epitaxial growth experts from all over Europe. The focus is on different classes of materials to be grown and studied: conventional semiconductors, oxides and 2D materials.
