On 26 October, we had distinguished guests! FTMC was visited by researchers from the United Kingdom - Prof. Kirk Semple and Dr. Akanimo Odon (Lancaster University) and Dr. Stuart Wagland (Cranfield University).
The delegation was accompanied by Miglė Masaitytė (British Embassy in Vilnius), Sigita Auvertin, Akvilė Eglinskaitė and Jolanta Revaitienė (Research Council of Lithuania, LMT) and Gintaras Steponavičius (Cormack Consultancy Group).
As reported by LMT, on 25 October, the foreign researchers took part in an event dedicated to promoting cooperation between Lithuanian and UK universities and institutions in the field of sustainability education. As the UK is renewing its participation in the Horizon Europe programmes from the beginning of 2024, the development and implementation of joint initiatives and projects in the development of global sustainability education initiatives is of particular importance and significance.

During the visit of the UK delegation to Lithuania, meetings were also held with scientific institutions, one of which was FTMC. During the meeting, FTMC's activities and major works were presented, and both sides shared their contributions in sustainability-related research areas. As the guests from the UK noticed, environmental research in particular is an area where our Center and the British universities can find common ground and opportunities for cooperation.
After an informal discussion, Dr. Steigvilė Byčenkienė, Head of the Department of Environmental Research and member of the National Committee on Climate Change, gave a tour of the air pollution research station Vilnius Air, where the equipment helps to determine the concentrations of particulate matter and other substances in the air and to carry out related research.
