The Corrosion Research Laboratory (CRL) of the State research institute Center for Physical Sciences and Technology complies with the requirements of LST EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 and has been accredited since December 2007 to carry out corrosion tests of metals and their alloys, anodic and cathodic metallic coatings, conversion coatings, anodic oxide coatings and organic coatings on metallic materials in a neutral salt spray artificial atmosphere according to LST EN ISO 9227. The Scope of Accreditation (Flexible) also covers an evaluation of coating corrosion damage according to LST EN ISO 9227, LST EN ISO LST EN ISO 10289, LST EN ISO 4628 clauses 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. The most recent re-accreditation procedure of the CRL was completed in October 2022. The Accreditation Certificate No. LA.01.083, issued by the National Accreditation Bureau of Lithuania, is valid until 26/10/2027. As an accredited unit, the CRL participates in International Interlaboratory Comparisons (ILC) and Proficiency Testing (PT) programs, which are mandatory external elements in the quality control of testing laboratories. In 2022, the CRL received a PT certificate from the Institut für Eignungsprüfung (IfEP GmbH, Germany), which had organized a PT in the field of “2206 Indirect verification of the salt spray test chamber 2022” according to the EN ISO 9227. In 2023, the CRL participated in the ILC program “CO23FS” which organized by SASU CompaLab, France (https://www.compalab.org/pages/what-is-compalab/). The ILC program was compiled in accordance with the standards LST EN ISO 9227, LST EN ISO 10289, and LST EN ISO 4628 clauses 2 and 3, which fall within the scope of the CRL accreditation. In SASU CompaLab's "'Final report of the interlaboratory comparison for proficiency testing CO23FS'", which provides a summary and evaluation of the results of all ILC participants, the CRL's results were positively evaluated.

RELEVANT SCOPE OF ACCREDITATION

ORDER FOR CORROSION TESTS

Services available

The CRL staff carries out:

  • Expert evaluation of corrosion damages of various products (metals, alloys, steels, paints, lacquers, etc.) in natural and artificial atmosphere and solutions;
  • Evaluation of corrosion impact on industrial objects;
  • Consultation on corrosion protection

In addition to the accredited methods, the CRL can perform non-accredited tests:

  1. Evaluation of coatings adhesion by Cross Cut Test, LST EN ISO 2409.
  2. Determination of resistance to liquids. Immersion in liquids other than water, LST EN ISO 2812-1.
  3. Determination of resistance to liquids. Water immersion method, LST EN ISO 2812-2.
  4. Determination of resistance to humidity. Condensation (single-sided exposure), LST EN ISO 6270-1.
  5. Determination of resistance to humidity (condensation-water atmospheres), LST EN ISO 6270-2.
  6. Total immersion corrosion test for Aircraft Maintenance Chemicals ASTM F 483-08.
  7. Corrosion of low-embrittling cadmium plate by Aircraft maintenance chemicals, ASTM F 1111.
